There are various types of cards, from the simplest in PVC for personnel identification, to cards with chips for authentication in gyms and car washes, up to the more complex Contactless encrypted for logical authentication in environments where a high security.
Nowadays, PVC cards, with chips (contactless smart cards, contact chip smart cards), with magnetic strips, with barcodes, have completely revolutionized our way of working.
The uses are multiple, the measures are 86 x 54 mm, identical to a standard credit card.
Here is the usage:
COMPANY BADGES
They are used for access control and attendance tracking in companies. In some cases they can be used for logical access, i.e. access to your computer, access to the network or access to the canteen and vending machines
CARDS FOR HOTELS
Today they are used to access the entrance doors of the room and activate all the services connected to the room.
CARD FOR SPORTS CENTERS
Cards for sports centers are no longer in use.
What is actually used are the Wristbands (silicone watches equipped with Chips) which are very practical and perform the functions of the card well.
FIDELITY CARD
By now they are widely used in various supermarkets, shopping malls, hypermarkets to build customer loyalty as for each purchase they give the customer points in proportion to the purchase.
They use a barcode associated with the customer.
This is aimed at a reward for the customer or a discount voucher.
GIFT CARDS
They allow you to give a monetary value to spend in the store.
The value and duration can be variable
CARD FOR CAR WASHES
Another interesting application of smart cards: payment systems for self-service car washes with contact chip cards.
The customer purchases a credit which is loaded onto the card and with this can use all the facilities: car wash, drying, vacuum cleaners, etc….,
The credit is used to use the services: by downloading from the card what has actually been consumed, there is no need to buy tokens that are sometimes not used. Find out more

In many cases, MOBILE ACCESS can fully replace the functions of the card, as the data residing on the card are entered into the smartphone.
